Hi.  My name is Abraham and my name is Marc Anthony.  We chose Elitch Gardens as our community because we love Elitch’s!  We go there a lot in the summer.  It is such a cool place.  We learned about Elitch’s at the Denver Public Library. 

    It was created by John and Mary Elitch and opened on May 1, 1890.  At first it was beautiful gardens but Mary had a pet ostrich and other animals such as a bear, lion, and rattlesnakes so it was first called Elitch’s Zoological Gardens. Soon people were coming to Elitch’s for rides, as well as to see plays with famous actors and to also hear music and dance.

    The original Elitch’s was on 38th and Tennyson.  It was there for a really, really long time – over 90 years in fact!  Then in 1995 it moved downtown right next to the Pepsi Center.

    Elitch’s has always had really fast roller coasters.  The roller coaster ride is our favorite ride at Elitch’s. 

    We love Elitch’s and it is our community.
