My name is Jose and I discovered that most of the ancestors of the Ute and white pioneers visited Red Rocks. I chose this topic because it reminded me of when the KSPA history club went there. My teammates and I were stunned when we saw the gigantic formations of the Red Rocks, one looks like a hot dog. My eyes were opened with the astonishment of the huge formation of the rocks, and the feeling of the dusty rocks. But what astonished me the most was the acoustics in the amphitheater-they were amazing!
This was a special place for thousands of years for the Ute Indians before the white men discovered it. The Red Rocks amphitheater is called rock ship. The Red Rocks land was first called Garden of the Angels but after a few years the land was called Garden of the Titans. In the early 1900s John Brisben Walker wanted to turn the natural amphitheater at Red Rocks into a stage that artists could perform on. This is part of my Colorado community because the Ute discovered Red Rocks first, then white men discovered it. They were my ancestors. It is My Community, My Colorado.
