I chose Chatfield Park because it reminds me of what my mom tells me about her home in Veracruz, Mexico. Chatfield Park and Veracruz are similar because they are hot, refreshing, and relaxing.
Lieutenant Isaac W. Chatfield bought Chatfield Park after the Civil War in 1870. The land was located where the South Platte and Plum Creek meet. Chatfield became known for its floods. It had notable floods in 1933, 1935, 1942 and 1965. Today I go there with my mom. There is a sign that there are no fish, I wonder if there were fish in the past? Chatfield Park use to be part of a railroad and it supported the first lumber industry. Chatfield is located in Littleton. Today, when people visit Chatfield State Park they can do a BBQ and swim. It is My Community, My Colorado.
